Fowl Update

Well - after much "nose holding" we've moved all of the ducks out of their shared area with the chickens and they're now residing in the adult duck pen with the mature Indian Runners. We moved them this past weekend and they seem to be doing quite well with the adult Runners. The two adult male Runners have been herding the new arrivals although they seem to be giving up on their idea of controlling the pen as they've truly been overrun by the new arrivals. (we had 5 adult Runners in the pen area and have added 5 grown Pekins and approximately 30 newly feathered ducklings). The chickens seem happy to have more space (they were sharing space with the ducklings) and the smell in the chicken coup is now bearable as well! If you haven't raised ducks - they're messy with the water and their area requires almost daily cleaning (assuming they are confined).
