Duck Moving

Phew! The existing ducks are moved and in place. We got started late and must have looked reminicent of the "Beverly Hillbillies" driving from the old house to the new land with an 8x8x6 duck pen strapped to the back of the pickup. We finally moved the ducks into their new home around 11:00pm. If you've never had to build a pen that you wanted to keep burrowing animals out of (foxes, racoons and such) you may have a difficult time understanding the time it took to "setup" the enclosure (since it was pre-built). The time consuming part of this excersize was digging the appropriate "trench" around the outside of the pen, lining it with chicken wire, attaching the chicken wire to the pen and then burying the wire. This effectivly keeps "critters" out of the duck pen as the buried chicken wire stops them when they attempt to dig under the side of the pen. Mission accomplished - the existing Indian Runner's are moved and we added another 6 eggs to the incubator too. Tonight, Lord willing, we'll start building rabbit cages.
